"We all see that she is a girl." In reality, gender is much more fluid, and has way more to do with one's mental sense of oneself than with the physical equipment one is born with. Stephen has understood the truth about his gender for a long time, and now simply wants to make his body match what he knows to be true about himself. I wish Stephen nothing but the best as he goes forward with this, and hope that his family and friends will come to understand that no matter what, he is the same person they have always known and loved.
